Al F. Caniglia Field opened in the fall of 1949 as the home of the Omaha University football team. It was renovated in 2012 to become the practice and competition facility for the Omaha men’s and women’s soccer programs.
After the pitch’s installation by Hellas Construction, the artificial surface received a FIFA 4-star rating, the highest rating of any college facility in America. The infill is a unique blend of cork and coconut husk, which enhances playability and decreases field temperatures. It is the only NCAA Division I field to receive the prestigious FIFA Recommended 2-Star certification.
Caniglia Field features one of the largest LED videoboards in a soccer-only college facility, measuring 21 by 42 feet, as well as an integrated scoreboard. Lighting structures provide the ultimate night soccer experience.
The stadium features 3,000 seats -- including 1,390 chairback seats -- and VIP boxes located on the first level of the press box. Omaha support staff work comfortably in levels two and three of the three-level press box, while fans have access to multiple concession stands and ticket booths for their convenience, and home and visiting teams have easy access to locker rooms.
